A Brief Biography of Timothy W. Brock

Timothy W. Brock serves as Assistant Professor of Christian Education at the Campbell University Divinity School in Buies Creek, North Carolina. He began his work at Campbell in the fall of 2002.

Dr. Brock was born in Gadsden, Alabama in 1958, and was raised (through high school days) in Arab, Alabama.  He was educated in the public school of Arab before attending the University of Alabama on an academic scholarship.  After graduation from the University of Alabama, Dr. Brock spent one year studying religion and religious education at Samford University before moving on to seminary.  At the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Brock received the M.Div./R.E. degree (1984) and the Doctor of Education degree (1988).

Dr. Brock has served as staff minister in a number of congregations including:  Summer Youth Intern at the First Baptist Church of Albertville, Alabama (Summer 1981); Minister of Youth at the First Baptist Church of Bedford, Indiana (1982-1984); Minister of Education and Administration at Melbourne Heights Baptist Church (1984-1987); Minister of Christian Education at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, Fredericksburg, Virginia (1989-1998); and Minister of Education and Adults at the First Baptist Church of Huntsville, Alabama.

Dr. Brock was born into a family of active Baptist laypersons and ordained ministers. His father, Warner, who recently passed away, was a deacon in his church.  His brother, Mark, and his brother-in-law, Danny Harbin, are currently ordained Baptist deacons.  His mother, Martha, his sister, Diane Harbin, and his sister-in-law, Carol Brock, have served or are currently serving as Sunday School teachers.  His brother, Glen, is pastor of the Camellia Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama.  His niece, April Brock, served as a journeyman missionary in Tanzania. Both sets of grandparents were very active in their respective Baptist congregations.

When he is not busily preparing for classes, Dr. Brock enjoys travel, visiting art museums, collecting art, collecting models of classic autos, taking care of his first new house, singing, and playing tennis.  Dr. Brock is a single adult who has never been married.
